Educational Outreach: Andrew Jackson Middle School Artist-in-Residence 2023-2024

The program goal is to provide supplemental choral instruction by a vocal specialist that was lost during the pandemic. Our organization provided the AIR program to AJMS during the 2022-2023 school year, and the outcomes exceeded our anticipated goals. A pretest-posttest design was used to assess each students’ comprehension on an individual basis.  The pretest class average was 20%, and the posttest class average was 67% for participants, including students with special needs. Building strong  singing habits early in life benefit students in the short-term and in future endeavors. Creating an ensemble of singers capable of high levels of performance is important to instilling a culture of pride, fulfillment, and achievement in the school and community as a whole.  Providing this program allows our organization to utilize a professional insights regarding program structure and education optimization.  This insight allows us to build a strong program model for future education expansion.
